Officials from the Brazilian National Indigenous Peoples Foundation () have long forbidden contact with the tribe, but the organisation occasionally lightly intervenes to prevent extended contact with the outside . The new footage taken via automatic cameras shows a group of naked men inspecting sets of implements left out by officials.
The issue of access to areas inhabited by uncontacted tribes came to the fore in January when the Observer exposed the plight of the Jarawa tribe of the Andaman Islands, whose women and girls were being persuaded to dance semi-naked for tourists in return for gifts of food.
