Meyer-Landrut is a funny sort of a star. She took ballet lessons as a child but when she dances on stage she looks more like rock musician Joe Cocker than a ballerina. Her voice makes an impression but it seems uncontrolled. One of the many “Lena moments” during the program in which she competed to go to Oslo came when the host asked her about her breathing technique while singing. Her succinct answer: “I don’t have one.”
The German Lena Meyer-Landrut, former winner and two-time participant in the Eurovision song contest (2010 and 2011) is being blackmailed with nude photos. This reports the German sensation journal Bild. There would be two years nude pictures of the 26-year-old singer circulate on the internet, which of the stolen laptop of her friend Maximilian. According to the article, the suspected perpetrator threatened to publish more pictures if no amount is paid.
With her infectious “Satellite”, 18-year-old Lena Meyer-Landrut topped the German single charts for weeks. Now the countdown’s on for Lena to take to the stage at Oslo’s Telenor Arena and represent Germany in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. “Satellite” was written by Julie Frost & John Gordon, and will be performed in the final at starting position #22. It’s Germany’s 54 entry to the Eurovision Song Contest.
It’s a story that only pop music could write. Lena Meyer-Landrut from Hanover is actually right in the middle of preparing for her high school exams. She’s doing Biology, Sport and History and she’s got a lot of revising to do. But now she’s going to be representing Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in the Norwegian capital Oslo. On the 29th of May, 2010, just after her 19th birthday, she’ll be up on the big stage performing the song Satellite. “It’s going to be hard going up to the exams in April, but I’ll manage,” she says with a sigh. “Then it will almost be relaxing to head off to the Eurovision final.”
