After Kat’s cleavage was showed off to everyone, the number of Slaters in their home seemed to multiply dramatically.

On 20 December 2017, it was announced Wallace would reprise her role as Kat in Spring 2018. Wallace praised Yorke for returning to family orientated drama and for revitalising the Slaters, a family he introduced, stating that there is “hustle and bustle” within the family. Wallace explained that upon her return, Kat has “got debris to clear up, all the damage” caused by the news of her death imparted by Mo, but her “fun side” has returned, but wants Kat to remain single. With regard to other interactions, Kat could “clash” with (), matriarch of the newly established Taylor family.

Alfie lies to Kat that he is going to to visit his brother Spencer. Kat becomes suspicious and discovers that Alfie is lying. Stacey lies to Kat that Alfie has left because he has had a cancer scare, and is also helping Hayley with Cherry. However, in August 2025, Kat is upset when Alfie reveals that his previous trip to Australia was in fact to , to find Zoe, who turned to Stacey seeking help, but then fled. Kat has an argument with Tommy over his friendship with misogynist (), causing him to run away. The Slaters try to find Tommy, but are unaware that he is with Zoe.

Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, she said: “It did feel weird coming back without Shane. I’m sure he’s busy doing other stuff. I’m not sure what the writers have in store, but it will be exciting for the fans. I’d like Kat to be more with her family – I like the banter and them getting up to mischief. And I’d like her to be single for a while – I want to build the Slaters back up and see where it goes from there.”
